Move a power recliner safely: two-person, manual-first

Neutral moving checklist for powered reclining furniture. We have not weighed chairs or verified injury/damage rates. Disclosure. Follow the exact model manual.

Prepare

• Measure doorways and check the product specification for weight.
• Gather pads, blankets, cord ties, maker-specified tools, and a dolly when appropriate.
• Use two people for lifts; solo lifting is high-risk practice.

Disconnect

1. Return upright if safe, unplug, and disconnect any documented battery pack.
2. Secure the cord; do not operate controls while carrying.
3. Remove the back only if documented; photograph harnesses and label fasteners.
4. Retract and pad the footrest; never carry by arms or footrest.

Move and transport

1. Pad arms and trim without adhesive on upholstery.
2. Two people lift from the frame on a shared count; keep level.
3. For stairs, plan landings or use qualified movers.
4. Prefer upright vehicle transport unless the maker says otherwise; strap against sliding.

Reassemble and test

1. Inspect, reseat the back and harnesses per the manual, then reconnect power.
2. Test listed features. For grinding or no motion, disconnect and use troubleshooting.

FAQ

One person? Not recommended. Back removal? Only when documented. Side transport? Prefer upright when silent. Moving damage may be excluded by warranty.
